ALL OUR GRAPES HAVE CERTIFIED ORGANIC STATUS
Our Italian white wine - Apeneste (IGT), comes only from the Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown in our vineyard in Polignano. They are hand-picked, vinified and fermented in thermoregulated steel. It is recognisable for its notes of aromatic herbs and fruity tones.
On the nose: Aromas of ripe fruit and honey, with hints of exotic fruits, floral notes and herbs.
On the palate it is warm, savoury and soft – a fresh, well-balanced taste. It is the colour of straw with flecks of gold.
Pairs with: Fresh cheese, fish and as an aperitivo
Our labels have a personal meaning but all reflect either a story, the history of Italy or the grape.
HOW WE NAMED IT - Apeneste: Polignano is believed to be the site of the ancient Greek city of Neapolis of Apulia. Greeks from Sparta begin to arrive in Puglia during the 8th century BC. Apeneste or Apameste comes from the Greek apanístemi to mean "I rise", "I am born". The area was also invaded by the Spanish and Turkish Empires and was an important shipping port. When planting and cultivating the land and because of its vicinity to the sea and ports, we found ancient fishing spears and forks. With his love of history, Uncle Franco decided to name our white wine after this historical fact and the label represents the invasions of Puglia.
